April started off with General Conference weekend. We enjoyed 2 days of listening to our prophet and other General Authorities. This year we had this fun giant coloring sheet to keep us busy. It was fun to see how it turned out with a little help from all of us.
Sunday after conference, we went to Grandma Terry's and Grandpa Roger's to make a fun Easter treat, bunnies driving cars!
Finn got to go on his Kindergarten field trip, to the Living Planet Aquarium. I was lucky to get to tag along. He was pretty excited to ride on a school bus! There were more than enough parent volunteers, so the only child I was responsible for was Finn. We joined up with his friend Callum and his mom for most of the time. It was so much fun!
We thought it was pretty cool that there was a penguin named Ava there. She was even born the same year as our Ava.
Spring Break!
We had a fun Spring Break. The kids had a bucket list of things they wanted to do. We were able to check them all off. The list included...
*Visit Dad at Temple Square
We had fun as we always do there. After lunch with Dad we went to tour the Beehive house. The home of Brigham Young. Then we played on the dinosaurs at city creek and then headed to the children's museum at the Church History Museum.
The children's museum is closed right now, but they did have a small room with several of our favorite things including the tiles on the light box. Finn made this (Mary and the baby Jesus)
*Go to the park *Get ice cream. We killed 2 birds with one stone. It was a little chilly at the park, but we had fun.
*Bowling
Finn was set on going bowling. We just let the kids play and just did one game. It was the perfect amount of time.
*Decorate Easter Eggs... This year I forgot to buy a dye kit at the store. After a bit a pinterest and googling we found the rice method. We filled ziplock bags with rice and food coloring and shake the eggs in the bag. It was a fun way to do it and gave the eggs a cool marble look.
Next,*Go to Thanksgiving point. We made that happen when we went to the Tulip Festival. Grandma Terry and Grandpa Roger came with us. It was a beautiful day. Grandpa brought his camera and got some pretty great pictures. I told him that now that he is retired, he can just join us on all of our outings and be our photographer. They had the Klompen Hunt again and we had fun searching for all of the wooden shoes hidden in the gardens.
We tried Stroop wafels and thought they were pretty delicious. Finn even said they were his favorite dessert ever! He must be a Dutch Boy!
We walked through the Light of the World Garden again and loved it as usual. It was special to be there just a few days before Easter.
Last on the spring break bucket list was to*eat at a restaurant. We hit up JCW's after the tulip festival and made spring break a success.
Easter
We went Saturday to Uncle Todd and Aunt Julie's house for the family Easter Egg hunt. It was a fun afternoon and the kids loved hunting for eggs and playing with cousins.
Cute Finn in his bunny hat he made at school.
We made our resurrection rolls for breakfast Easter morning. I love this tradition and the reminder of the empty tomb. "He is not here, for he is risen"
Ready for church Easter Sunday.
We went to Grandma Terry and Grandpa Roger's for Easter dinner and our come follow me study.
I am so thankful for my Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ. I know that he lives and that because of his atonement all will be made right. No matter our pains, trials and heart ache, he understands them all and can give us peace in the life.
We started a new Soccer season. This time Ava is playing too.
Spring has sprung! I love spring and the beauty it brings. We still have cold days and even the occasional dusting of snow, but spring is the best! Not too hot, not too cold, but just right! The beautiful flowers always bring hope after a long winter.
Miss Lyla started crawling this month and turned 9 months old! She has two teeth that are just about ready to pop out. I got the pack and play out to try and keep her contained and I can't keep Ava out of it. She always wants to climb in with Lyla.
(Side note, Ava always loves to wear coats! She will keep coats on all day long. This is much different than Sadie who hated coats and I could hardly get her to wear one.)
Random April
Finn and Ava reading in the tree house. This made my mom heart so happy!
Eating lunch outside. I am not sure what we will do next year when Finn is in school all day.
Ava lined up all the superheros likes this..
Sadie loves a good phone filter.
Lyla and Liv at Grandma Terry's
Ava is getting pretty good at peeling vegetables. If only she could get the peelings in the garbage can. She was not happy I was taking this picture.
shenanigans on the bike rack at the library.
I can't believe we are entering May and just have a few weeks of school left. Where does the time go?
