December 2015

December is always such a crazy month.  So many fun traditions and parties.  Here is a look at ours this year....

Sinterklaas: We always kick of the Christmas season by celebrating the Dutch tradition of Sinterklaas.  We had  a fun time this year, it was extra fun because Wendy came from St. George and Brad came from Seattle.

Uncle Brad and Ava met for the first time...

Sadie's note to Sinterklaas....

Ava was the only one that would sit on Sinterklaas's lap...

Sinterklaas left chocolate letters in our wooden shoes...

We had a terrible stomach bug pass through our house this month.  Everyone took a turn being sick, except Ava (thankfully).  These are our sad sick faces..

Sadie had her winter dance recital.  They danced to 'We wish you a merry Chirstmas'.  She and her class did a great job!  It is pretty fun because Sadie's friend Charlotte is in her school and dance class with her.

We woke up one morning to our first big snow storm.  The kids were so excited to go out and play,  I was not as excited.  It took forever to find all the snow clothes and get them on everyone, then we got outside they had fun for about 10 minutes and then they were grumpy, cold and wet.  Oh the joy!

The snow was not great for building snowmen.  One day when Brian was out playing with the kids, they built this tiny snowman and put him by the kitchen window looking in.  I named him Tom, as in peeping Tom.  :)

Sadie had a Christmas party at school, she was so excited to wear her pajamas to school.  When she woke up she said "Best day ever!"  They made cute trains from treats...

After being cooped up sick for a few days, we were ready to get out of the house.  We decided to drive around and look at Christmas lights.  The cemetery near us had this amazing tree.  We decided to get out and get a good look at it!...

We have a few nativities that we are ok with the kids touching.  Anytime I find them after little hands have been playing, this is what I find....We call it the 'Team huddle',  Everyone surrounding the baby Jesus.  Love it!..

Sadie and I continued our tradition of going to see the Nutcracker.  We missed having Kelsey and Sammy with us.  We had really good seats and could see really well.  We had to leave early though because Sadie wasn't feeling well.  We enjoyed what we saw though.

It is not Christmas without a trip to Temple Square to see the lights.  This year Grandma and Grandpa Taggart came with us and our friend Vanessa met us there for a little bit.  We had such a fun time, we walked around Temple Square and then went over to city creek.  We checked out the fun window displays at Macey's.  This year they were peanut characters, all made out of candy!  We had dinner and then we rode the Jingle Bus.  The Bus drives around the block so that you can check out all the lights around the city.  The Weather was perfect!  It started to snow just as we were getting ready to head home.  This is one of our favorite traditions.

Riding the jingle bus.  We took some silly selfies...

Finn trying to catch snowflakes on his tongue..

Taggart family Christmas party: We had so much fun at the Taggart family Christmas party.  We enjoyed yummy dinner, Christmas carols and some fun games.  There is never a dull moment with this group....

We made these cute reindeer cookies to share....

The Taggarts have been singing carols as part of their Christmas tradition for years.  They have several beautiful songs that they sing every year.  Julie and I don't consider ourselves the best of singers so we prefer to listen to the beautiful singing....

                                            Here are the tenors....
                                              Bass.....
                                             Sopranos and altos....
The kids had so much fun singing and playing bells...

We played some silly games, in this one you tied a tissue box filled with jingle bells around your waist and tried to shake the bells out.  It was so funny to watch!

We had a really fun Christmas Eve.  Grandma and Grandpa Taggart came to stay overnight at our house. We ate dinner and then made some ornaments and decorated a gingerbread house.  After that the kids opened gifts from G&G and got their Christmas pjs.  We watched the animated bible movie about the Nativity.  We left a treat for Santa and it was off to bed.  Sadie had a very hard time falling asleep!
Do you like Sadie's hair?  She did it herself! ;)

Finn got blaze puzzles from G&G
Sadie got a new doll and a bucket of doll clothes from G&G.  She named the doll Sadie.  It worked out well too because the pjs she got came with a night gown for a doll.  She was so excited to match her doll.....
                                        Finn loves to do puzzles...
                                                      New pjs.....

Check out this spread Santa got....
Ava got the little people Nativity from G&G Taggart.  I am pretty sure I was more excited than she was.  Next year she will love it!

Christmas morning was so fun!  Santa Came!  The kids got lots of fun gifts. That morning we opened gifts, and ate yummy cinnamon rolls with Grandma and Grandpa.  Later that morning we headed over to Grandma Terry's house for our traditional 'brunch' of green pancakes, strawberries and whipped cream!  Then we opened gifts with everyone there.  We spent the rest of the day relaxing at Grandma's house.

Mom and Dad gave the kids a fish for Christmas!  They named him Jack...

Santa brought Sadie a chalk/white board.  perfect for playing school.  Here is a cute picture she drew of she and I....

Finn with his Captain America action figure, from Aunt Wendy...

The Sunday after Christmas we went to Grandma and Grandpa Taggart's house for a belated Christmas dinner and the cousins all got their gifts from G&G.  Sadie and Lily both got dolls from G&G.  How cute are they...

These kids love being with their cousins.  They were all screaming and hugging when it was time to go....
Best Cousins....

Julie and I thought we would join in......

On New Years Eve, we went to Grandma Terry's for a family party with the Child's side of the family.  It is perfect for the stage our family is in, because we ring in the new year at 9:00pm.  The kids had fun this year with noise makers and hats.  They started a parade marching around grandma's house screaming Happy New YEAR!  We were all in bed asleep before midnight!  We had a wonderful 2015 and are looking forward to what awaits us in 2016.

Randomness....It is always fun to see what surprise pictures I find on my phone after the kids have had it...

I have this weird quirk where I often think my food is smiling at me.  Here is some evidence.  Do you see what I see?...

Miss Ava is growing so fast!  She is 4 months old now and is a happy girl.  Sadie and Finn can get the best giggles out of her.  She can roll over from her back to her tummy and back again.  She is grabbing anything in reach and loves to chew on anything she can get in her mouth.  We sure love her!

Finn is our self appointed orange peeler at our house.  He doesn't like to eat the oranges, but he sure does enjoy peeling them for everyone else...
Morning snuggles with this cute boy....

Cute snowmen....Sadie drew the top picture and Finn built the bottom one on our window, his is very abstract wouldn't you say.

Love, Love, LOVE......
