Ava and I got to join Finn and his preschool class for a tour of the fire station. We had a great time learning about what it is like to be a firefighter and checking out the fire engine.
After our tour we spent some time at the park.
We visited our favorite pumpkin patch. The kids had fun playing in the maze, the corn pit and climbing hay bails. Everyone picked out a pumpkin.
The YW in our ward were going to volunteer with planting at Temple Square. Grandma Terry was busy so I wasn't sure who to ask to watch the kids while Dad and I were both at Temple Square. Brian said to just bring the kids. We met Dad early and went to dinner and then headed over to help with the planting. The kids had so much fun, except for the part when we had to wait for all the volunteers to show up. It was fun to be with Dad and see what he gets to do at work.
During Fall break from school, we went with our friends the Sandgrens to the scarecrow festival at Thanksgiving Point. It was fun to see all the silly scarecrows and the kids had soooo much fun playing in the leaves.
On Saturday of Fall break we met up with the Ferrells for our annual tradition of Witches and Caramel apples! I am sure their kids are so over going to look at witches, but they are so kind to come every year and enjoy it with our kids. The caramel apples were delicious as always!
We found this witch that was hanging upside down. (it is kind of hard to see in the picture) We called her the Ava witch, because Ava always wants to be hanging upside down!
For FHE we carved pumpkins. Every time we do this, I wonder who came up with this idea. It is fun, but so messy! The kids had a blast cleaning out the goo!
Halloween parties galore! We had so many fun family parties to go to this year. We had the Child's family dinner/Halloween party at Grandma Terry's. The kids had so much fun playing games with their cousins and showing off their costumes.
Trunk or Treat. This was the only picture I got at the Ward or Trunk or Treat....
Finn and his friend Austin.
We also had a blast at the Taggart family Halloween party.
Halloween!
Halloween was a busy day. We went to Sadie's school in the morning to watch her Halloween parade. Finn had a fun party at preschool and they sang two fun Halloween songs for the parents. That night we enjoyed our tradition of a jack o lantern pizza from papa murphey's, then it was off for trick or treating. The kids loved it and got tons of candy! Ava was so cute, we had practiced saying trick or treat and then thank you...well she would say trick or treat and then when I would ask her what you say? after they had given her candy, she would say "trick or treat" again. This year Sadie was a black cat, Finn was Batman and Ava was a penguin. I had originally planned for Ava to wear the Dutch Girl costume that Sadie had worn at this age, but Ava was not having it! She kept saying "I am not a Dutch girl!" After digging in the dress ups we found Sadie's old penguin dance costume and Ava was sold on it!
Random October....
One day I was at Costco with Finn and Ava. After we were done shopping we ate lunch. Ava ordered a hot dog, I offered to cut it for her, but she said 'no I eat it Big!' It cracked me up to see that little girl with that giant hot dog!
Finn had been obsessed with peeling things. He is always asking if we are having carrots with dinner, so that he can help peel. He is our little kitchen helper.
Sadie's self portrait..
Crazy Finn...
This kid loves puzzles
These cute kids at the library with Frank...
Grandma Terry has this life size skeleton she decorates with at Halloween. One afternoon Grandma caught Ava just sitting on his lap reading books.
Sadie's 2nd grade picture.
Sadie has a super wiggly tooth. (Well 2 actually) She does not like to wiggle them and she doesn't want anyone to touch them. It makes me laugh when she closes her mouth and that little tooth pokes out her lips! ugh, we have got to get them out!
Grandma Claudia has this stuffed duck in her bedroom. Every time Ava is at her house she goes and finds it.
Grandma Claudia found this piece of art work from when Brian was little.
While we were at the Taggart Halloween party the kids got to check out Grandma and Grandpa's new 4 wheelers! Next summer they will be serving another mission. This time they will be at a girls camp! In order to serve there they needed 4 wheelers and a trailer to live in. My dream mission!
Saturday is a special day...
Sadie had crazy hair day at school. She wanted to do the same thing she did the last two years. Easy enough!
Fall in Utah this year has been so beautiful! I feel like everywhere I go I am so amazed by all the beautiful colors!
" For the beauty of each hour of the day and of they night, Hill and vale, and tree and flow'r Sun and moon, and stars of light Lord of all, to thee we raise This our hymn of grateful praise".
