September 2019

We started off September by celebrating Bri and Missy's wedding. We decided not to bring our kids because it was all the way in Logan and we knew the 2 hour drive both ways would not be enjoyed by our children and they all had school the next day.   It was a great little get away for us.  we enjoyed relaxing with family and dancing like crazy.  I might have gotten a bit crazy on the dance floor.  When Sadie saw the picture of me dancing she was like "really mom?!" I know, I am so embarrassing.  It was a beautiful day and we are excited for Bri and Missy.

Ava's 1st day of preschool
Ava was so excited to start preschool! She had seen Finn and Sadie each have their 1st days and she was ready for her turn.  She has loved it so far.  I was a little worried about Ava going to preschool because sometimes she struggles to get along with other kids.  It sounds like things are going well though.  She is one smart girl and we are excited to see what she learns this year at Miss Tami's preschool.

Sadie and Ava both started dance this month.  Sadie said she really wanted to take a ballet class and Ava said she was NOT going to do soccer again.  She is in a dance/tumble class and I think it is perfect for her since she uses somersaulting as a form of transportation and she loves to be upside down.

Utah State Fair
We went to the fair this year.  This was our first time going.  We had a fun time seeing the animals, eating fair food, and riding rides.

Luke and Jordan's Wedding
2 weddings in one week! This time we got to celebrate Luke and Jordan's wedding.  Brian and I went to the ceremony in the afternoon and then we all came to the reception that night.  The wedding was held at a ranch and they told us to not bring our kids dressed up for the reception because they could play all around the ranch.  The kids had a blast! They rode down giant slides, looked at farm animals and played in water troughs.  Finn said "This is like going to a wedding and camping at the same time!" And like camping it was,  everyone got eaten by mosquitoes! Ava got the worst of it!  It was a fun night and we are so excited for Luke and Jordan.

Finn is playing soccer again.  He is so excited to be on team RED this year.  On the soccer field is where Finn is the happiest.  I love watching him play.  We are lucky to have Grandpa Roger at all the games to take such great pictures of Finn playing.

Red Fireballs

This is the 1st season that they are playing with goalies.  Finn played goalie one game and said it was too boring!

The girls are pretty good at keeping busy while we are at soccer games, even though we hear plenty of complaining about having to go. They are always happy to play with friends, play on the playground or run around and kick the soccer ball.

How cool is this picture of the sun breaking through the clouds right before Finn's game started.

One Friday night we decided to go for a hike.  I had heard about this Jungle Trail in Draper that was supposed to be fun for kids, so we gave it a go.  We had fun exploring and even found a tarantula!  It was a fun little hike and we enjoyed the beautiful fall weather that is coming our way.

One night we invited our neighbors the Humphries and the Gourleys over for a camp fire and s'mores.   We had so much fun.  The kids had a blast running around thee backyard in the dark and we enjoyed some good laughs around the fire. We need to do more things like this.

We got hit with a terrible stomach bug this month.  It hit Ava first right before church on Sunday, then Sadie and Finn both got it on Tuesday night which included Sadie throwing up ALL over the bathroom.  Then I spent all day  Wednesday on the couch feeling terrible.  Brian was also sick but had more of a cold/congestion. By some miracle it seemed to avoid Lyla.  Hopefully her turn isn't still coming.  It was a rough week that is for sure!

Family pictures.
That Friday we had family pictures scheduled with Aunt Julie.  Luckily we were are all feeling much better and were able to make it.  Family pictures are so stressful! Trying to figure out what everyone should wear, getting everyone excited about going, convincing Finn to wear something other than soccer shorts and sports t shirts for a quick 20 min photo session, worrying about everyone being happy and smiling for the pictures.  Well, things were going pretty well right up until the moment we were ready to start taking pictures and Finn realized he left his "regular clothes" (that he planned to change into when we were done) at home.   That was IT he was not happy.  He cried and pouted the ENTIRE time.  I don't think we got even one good group picture.  I was so frustrated.  I know one day I will look back and laugh at this, but it may take awhile.  All of that work only to end like this...

apparently "Soccery" is an adjective now.

Two messy face girls after dinner.

Little miss Lyla

She was so proud that she climbed up onto the chair all by herself!

Two cute girls watching out the window.

While walking to pick up the big kids from school one day a little grasshopper hitched a ride on our wagon.

Hidden mickey while making eggs one morning.  Of course we had to send a picture to Wendy.

Aunt Andrea handed this panda costume down to us.  In this picture Spencer is wearing it while holding Lyla.

One day after school Sadie was having peanut butter and apples for a snack, while working on homework.  I was making dinner and turned around to see Lyla holding Sadie's bowl of peanut butter! The little thief was covered in peanut butter!

Two cute girls on the way in to the library.  We love new book day!

nap time snuggles.

More of  Ava's art work...

We celebrated Grandpa Roger's Birthday

I snapped this picture as Brian and I were coming out of the Temple.  What a beautiful view!

I got a text from my friend Lisa one day with this picture she took of Brian at work.

The kids had a fundraiser at school.  They were happy to get enough donations to each earn a silly hat.  These are what they chose.
