April 2022

Conference Weekend.  Sadie and I got to attend the Women's session on Saturday night.  After we enjoyed a trip to The Chocolate for dessert, with our friends.
Sadie and Victoria...

Me with Stephanie Rex and Trisha Gourley....

After a weekend full of trying to listen to conference and everyone being home together we really needed an outing on Sunday evening.  I have been wanting to see the cherry blossoms at the Salt Lake State Capital for years.  Sunday ended up being the perfect time.  The blossoms were blooming beautifully and the weather was perfect.  We had a fantastic time walking around and enjoying the Spring evening.  I am so glad we did it!  I took about a zillion pictures.  Our friend Vanessa and her dog, Bowie joined us for the adventure.

Cute Lyla practicing her name with stickers.  She has another Lyla in her preschool class and so she is "Lyla T"  She insists that she has a T in her name.  She is also constantly toting around some stuffed animals....

Liv and Lyla had a playdate after preschool...

We went to Steam night at the school.  The kids had fun with VR goggles, seeing a hawk, a chemistry experiment, mini robots and light sabers....

Sadie had picture day for dance...

Finn and I got to go to a Real Salt Lake game.  It was so much fun!  This kid is introducing us to a new whole world and I am kind of loving it.  The game ended in a tie, but we had a blast and are learning so much about the game of soccer.  Finn is even becoming an expert on the RSL team members and what positions they play.  We are definitely going to need tickets to more games!

cute girls having a nail painting party....

Spring in Utah means random snow storms.   We got hit with a pretty good storm.  It definitely had me thinking about moving somewhere warmer!

One day we are taking pictures of blossoms on trees, the next it is snow!

Sadie made this cute bunny cake at a young women's activity.  She loves going to YW!

Easter egg coloring...
We had fun coloring eggs.  Everybody loves the egg spinner the best!

Grandma Terry gave the kids these fun Easter kits to decorate like gingerbread houses.  The kids had fun decorating them.  Finn and Sadie did the one on the left and Ava and Lyla did the one on the right.

Sickness struck again!  This time Ava and Lyla were hit with fevers/coughs.  No fun!  They even had to miss out on the Taggart Family Easter Egg Hunt.

Liv and Lyla at Grandma Terry's on Easter Sunday...
or should I say Snow White and Bat Girl?

For spring break we headed to Vernal Utah.  We had never been and were not sure how fun it would be, but after doing some research we decided to give it a try.  We are glad we did!  We ended up having a great time.

We got in to town and headed to a park to get some energy out after driving for 3 hours.

Then pizza for dinner...

Then we headed to the Rec center for some swimming.  Is it even vacation if you don't swim?

On day 2 we went to Dinosaur National Monument.  We had a fun time exploring.  The Fossil Bone Quarry was amazing and definitely my favorite part.

The kids participated in the Jr. Ranger program and earned their pins for this National Park.  They were even sworn in as Junior Rangers.

We found some petroglyphs....

We also learned about Josie Bassett.  An amazing woman who was a homesteader that lived in DNM area all by herself.  She built her own cabin and raised cattle.  She also let outlaws like Butch Cassidy hide out there.  I was super impressed with her.  What a cool lady.  We were able to see her cabin and explore where she had lived.

Poor Ava was mostly recovered from her illness, but was still pretty tired and worn out.

Day 3 we went to the Dinosaur museum in Vernal.  More fun exploring and learning about dinosaurs.  As we were leaving Lyla said " I know what those dinosaurs ate.....HAM!"  That had us laughing.

Then we hiked to Moonshine Arch.  It was a beautiful arch.  We had a fun time exploring and climbing on lots of rocks.

The trail had lots of sandy spots.  Lyla had to keep stopping to play in the sand and build castles.

That evening we headed to the Vernal Temple.  This was the 1st Temple to be converted from a different building.  It was originally the Vernal Tabernacle.

and then ice cream...

On our final day we went to McConkie Ranch to see petroglyphs.  It was super fun to search for these and try to decipher what they could be/mean.

We also had plenty of time for movie watching and the condo.

Cute girl all wiped out.  Note her Jr. ranger pin on her shirt.

We had a great time.  It was fun to explore somewhere new.  The kids will probably always remember Pam....She lived in the condo next to ours.  We never actually met Pam, but the kids sure had fun talking about her.

We had sick kids on Easter, so we didn't get an Easter picture.  So here they are one week later.  Ready to go to our Nephew/Cousin Zach Ewell's mission farewell. He will be serving in Nashville Tennessee.  Now we have 3 missionaries out.  Hannah is in Mexico, Garrett is in Portugal and now Zach.  It is fun to hear of all their mission experiences.

I was able to go with Finn's class on their field trip to the Conservation Gardens.  Hanging out with that many 3rd graders is no joke!  I definitely needed a swig after that.

Sadie had her spring piano recital.  She played Hey Soul Sister, and she did a fantastic job!

I tried to get a picture of these cute girls....This was the best I could get.  Still so cute!
Ava, Ruby H, Lyla

We got a trampoline!  We took the swing portion off of our playset and slid the club house over to the tree.  The kids are loving having their own trampoline.  For a long time they have been climbing the neighbors fence to use theirs.

The trampoline box provided almost as much fun as the actual trampoline.

Cute sidewalk art by Ava...

It is crazy to think that there are just a few more weeks of school.  Summer will be here soon!
