Yellowstone August 2023

We went to Island Park/Yellowstone with our friends the Humphries. We had such a good time. Yellowstone is absolutely beautiful. Our first day we went to Yellowstone and saw so many cool things. We saw hot pots, geysers, mud pots, waterfalls, the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, bison, and elk.

Day 2: We enjoyed breakfast with the Humphries at their Grandma's cabin. That afternoon we floated the Snake River. I could not get over how beautiful it was. It was so much fun, we even saw a mama moose and her baby on the side of the river. That night we had a hotdog roast and marshmallows.

Day 3 We went to Big Springs to feed the fish and visited Johnny Sack's cabin. After lunch, we went to Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center, where we saw bears, wolves, otters, and ground squirrels. The kids got to hide food in the bear's habitat and then watch as the bears found it, super cool!

Day #4 was a rainy one at Yellowstone. We saw what we could of Grand Prismatic (It was a bit cloudy because of rain) Old Faithful was Faithful, and the kids earned another Junior Ranger pin.

We had a surprise visitor in our cabin. Sadie found this bat just hanging out in her room at bedtime. That caused a bit of commotion, needless to say we didn't get to bed very quickly.

We had several fun game nights..

Day 5 was another cold, rainy day, we went to Mesa Falls. The rain and the green made me miss the PNW. Absolutely gorgeous! Then we visited Harriman State Park where we took a very long tour of some cool cabins and learned some history of the area.

We had such a fun time! I really didn't want to come home. I felt like I could live in our little cabin in the middle of no where forever. (except probably not once the snow arrived) We loved spending the week with our friends. The kids got along so well and it just made it more fun. On our way home we stopped at Bear world in Rexburg, ID. You get to drive through where the bears come right up to your car. It was fun to be up so close.

They also had carnival rides ....

and a dinosaur world.
