June 2016

Wow, June was a busy busy month!  We hit the ground running for summer and we didn't slow down.  Here is what we did in June....

Last day of Kindergatren!  I can't believe we finished our first year of school.  Sadie loved everything about kindergarten, she had a fabulous teacher and lots of friends.  She learned so much, She is reading so well.  Her favorite books to read are Junie B. Jones and also The Magic Tree House series.  There are days she will sit and read to me for an hour!  On the last day of school the Kindergarten classes at her school did a live zoo, each child was supposed to research a certain animal then they had a 'push me button' on their shirt then the parents could come around the zoo, push the buttons and the kids would share facts about their animal.  Sadie and her friend Harlie were both Kangaroo Rats.  They looked so cute, but they were both so quiet and would not say a word when someone pushed their button.  All of the kids sang lots of fun songs, Sadie loved that part!  Good bye Kindergarten, 1st grade here we come!!!

 Sadie with Mrs Hardy...

We wasted no time jumping into summer, that afternoon we headed up to the zoo and played all afternoon in the splash pad....

School let out on a thursday for the kindergarten classes, the older kids were done on friday.  Friday night a few families from the neighborhood had a fun summer kick off party.  We all chipped in and rented a big bounce house.  The kids had a great time and even some of us moms got in for a jump!

Summer reading kick off party at the library.  This has become one of our favorite summer activities.  The kids love getting their face painted, jumping in bounce houses and exploring all the fire trucks and police vehicles.  This year we watched a magic show and I was selected (I did not volunteer) to help with the show.  It was a fun afternoon....

Sadie had her end of year dance recital.  She did great and looked so cute.  He class danced to Zipideedooda and Newsies.  She was so excited to wear make up.

We bought summer movie passes.  Each week we get to go see a movie at the theater for only 1.00 per show.  It has been fun.  Grandma Terry is so nice to watch Ava while I take the big kids.

St. George!  We had our yearly family trip down to St. George.  It is always so, so, so much fun and this year did not disappoint.  This year we were with Grandma Terry and Grandpa Roger, Wendy, Tracy, Mark and Luke, Tiffany, Nathan and Beck
I thought the song lyrics on my coke bottle were fitting for the weekend ahead....
Pool, pool and more pool!  The house we stayed in this trip had a fantastic pool with a slide, a splash pad and a hot tub.  The kids would have been happy to be in the pool from sun up to sun down.

We tried to get out and have some adventures each morning.  The first morning we headed to what is called the Glitter pit.  It is a huge mountain filled with gypsum stones.  We took hammers and chisels and chipped away at the mountain.  We brought home a lot of beautiful stones.  Then we headed out to find some petroglyphs.  We had a blast looking at the rocks and trying to decided what each picture looked like.

The next morning we headed to the water conservation garden and checked out the beautiful red rocks.  The kids had so much fun climbing on all the rocks....

mmmmm not a trip to St. George without a drink from Swig....
Friday night the adults went to Tuachan for dinner and a show.  We saw Peter Pan and loved it!  The kids enjoyed a aunt Wendy night back at the house.

As usual the kids were so tired on the way home.  We love this tradition and love spending the weekend with family.

I think I had vacation hangover for a couple of days after the trip.  I am ready to go back!

Random June moments....

I loved these pictures of the kids playing baseball with Grandpa Bruce!

Ava's first trip to 7 peaks and the swimming pool....

Enjoying water table and otter pops at home....

One day the kids decided to play winter, they dressed up in all of their winter gear.  I thought it was pretty crazy because it was 90 degrees outside!  Silly kids!

Sadie turned 6!!!
I can't believe she is 6.  We had a fun day, Grandma and Grandmpa Taggart came and spent the day with us, then that night we had cake and ice cream with family.  She chose white cake with white frosting and sprinkles on top.  (Just like Aunt Tracy picked for her B-day celebration.)  Sadie got a new bike for her birthday and has loved riding around the neighborhood, if only it wasn't so hot we would probably be out there all day.  We are so glad Sadie is in our family, she is a smart little girl and a good big sister.  She  loves to play dolls, do art, and play with friends.  We love you Sadie!
