May 2019

I can't believe May has come and gone.  We had a busy month with the end of the school year and all that comes with that.

Finn had to do an animal report.  He chose to do his on the Ankylosaurs.  He thinks these were pretty cool dinosaurs because they could take out giant T-rex with their huge, powerful tails.

More soccer.  Grandpa Roger was able to catch some pretty great pictures of Finn and Ava playing.  Ava struggled with soccer in the beginning of the season.  She did really well with the drills, but struggled while playing the games.  She didn't like the other kids taking the ball from her.  However by the last couple games of the season she was doing so much better! She was actually out on the field playing, having fun and scoring goals!  At her last game she ended up being the only player on her team that wanted play.  She played the entire game by herself! Ava against 5 other kids, and she rocked it! She probably scored 10 goals and won the game. It was crazy how much she changed from the beginning of the season to the end.  As usual Finn LOVED every minute of it. I can see him improving and learning more.  He is trying to incorporate team work more.  When he is on the soccer  field, he is one happy kid. Finn's team name this year, was The Lightening Bolt Bananas!

Finn had fun playing with 2 of his good friends from kindergarten, Knox and Callum.

Cutest soccer cargo!

Mother's day....I had a wonderful mother's day.  Brian and the kids spoiled me rotten, with breakfast in bed, gifts and cards.  I got a new wagon and a new temple bag. (Both of which I dropped lots of not so subtle hints about wanting) I was one happy mama.  Being a mom is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life.  I love these kids with all of my heart.  Most days I feel like I fall short, but I know that I am doing important work, God's work! I am so thankful that I get to stay home with my kids full time.  They are my everything!

Cute cards the kids made in primary...

Cards from the kids..

This is the wagon I got.  Check out how helpful it is at the library!

Sadie had her 3rd grade Wax Museum.  She chose to represent Helen Keller.  Sadie has been fascinated with Helen Keller since 1st grade, and has read many books about her.  She loves that she and Helen share the same birthday.  Grandma Terry and Aunt Wendy deserve major thanks for their help in making her blouse look perfect.

Finn and Sadie both learned to ride two wheeler bikes!  This was so exciting! We have tried several times to teach Sadie and she always let fear and frustration get in her way.  Well, Finn hopped on a two wheeler at my parents and just took off down the street.  When I showed Sadie the video of Finn riding, she felt like it made her look like a baby, so she was ready to give it a go.  It only took her one or two tries and she was off!  She said she wished she had done it a long time ago.  We are looking forward to lots of bike riding this summer.

Finn had a whole week off for kindergarten testing.  One of the days he had off we went to Thanksgiving point with his friend Callum, his mom and little sister.  It was a fun afternoon.

I let Lyla get in the water table knowing very well that she would be soaked by the time she was done.  She had SO much fun.  She loved splashing and putting her head in the water.

Ava was proud of this tower she built that was as tall as she is!

Lyla sat like a big kid in the stroller for the first time.

While we were there we ran into our niece/cousin, Brittney.

Memorial Day weekend
We had a fun 3 day weekend.  We went on Saturday morning to visit a few family graves with Grandma Terry, Grandpa Roger, and the Meldrums.

Great Grandma and Grandpa Taggart's grave

Great Grandma and Grandpa Kimber's grave...

I was loving the view from the Kimber's at Redwood Memorial.

We were also able to visit, Grandpa Bill's, Uncle Marc, Cooper and Great Grandma and Grandpa Albrechson. We didn't have time to make it over to Great G&G Child's this year, because we had to get Finn to a birthday party.

That afternoon we got our garden planted.  This year we planted, peas, zucchini, tomatoes, pumpkins, yellow and purple peppers, cucumber and carrots.  We are excited to see how it goes. Then we did some weed pulling around the yard and enjoyed some ice cream.  Lyla and Ava spent most of their time in the back of Dad's truck playing.

On Sunday we enjoyed family dinner at G&G Taggart's house. The kids always love being with cousins.  I love that they are able to build friendships and make memories with them.  We are looking forward to the family reunion this summer!

On Monday we decided to go buy new bikes! The kids have all out grown their bikes, so it was time for new ones.  After we got the bikes we headed to the Jordan River Trail to test them out.  Brian spent the whole time running to try and keep up with Finn and Sadie.  I hung back with Ava and Lyla. I was very proud of Ava she rode the entire time without any complaint! I think we will have to do this more, this summer.

Ava's bike came with a seat to put a baby doll.  Ava loved taking "Moosey" for a ride. She also likes to fill it with random sticks, grass and bugs.

Field day..
The kids had so much fun at their school's field day.

Last day of school! I can't believe the school year is over.  The kids had a great year.  They both had great teachers and learned a lot.  We are excited for 1st and 4th grade for Finn and Sadie, and preschool for Ava in the fall.

Sadie and her 3rd grade teacher, Mrs Bair

These were our teacher gifts this year...

After school let out on the last day, we had a little neighborhood picnic and Popsicle party to celebrate, at our friend's the Humphries.

Later that night we headed to the library's summer reading kick off party.  The kids loved checking out the fire truck, riding the train and their favorite was building and launching rockets.  Meldrums even joined us for a bit.

Random May....

Ava took this picture of Lyla while we waited at kindergarten pick up...
yummy toes!

I tried to get a picture on the way into church...this was the best we could do...

Miss Lyla loves to be outside.  She loves the swing and just crawling and exploring anywhere I will let her...

Love our Lilacs in the spring...

Lyla is getting so big! It is hard to believe she is 10 months old.  She crawls everywhere and is even pulling herself up to the furniture.  I am sure she will be walking before we know it.  She has two teeth on bottom and I can see two on top trying to come in.  She has learned to wave, and it is her new favorite trick.  She loves to wave at everyone, everywhere we go. She loves books and they make a great distraction during diaper changes.

Ava drew this picture of our family...I am not sure who is who.

Ava wanted me to roll her up like a burrito in her pillow bed...

One rainy afternoon Finn was at a friend's house and Lyla was sleeping and Sadie was at school, so Ava and I enjoyed some cuddles and books in her bed.  It is moments likes this that make motherhood great.

Most Sunday mornings, I have a meeting at the church so Brian is left to get everyone ready.  I came home after my meeting to find Ava in the front yard climbing the neighbor's fence, wearing her sunday dress and sun glasses.  There is never a dull moment with this girl.

Ava colored this picture at church.  I love the cute little people she drew at the bottom of the page.  I am thankful that families are forever!

Ava and our neighbor, Hunter.  She loves to play with Hunter.

Here are some fun pictures of Finn at Kindergarten.  I have loved that his teacher shared so many pictures.

Lyla and Liv

One day we were having dinner at Grandma Terry's.  Liv kept bringing Lyla Tupperware dishes and putting them on her highchair tray.   Hopefully these two will grow up to be best cousins.

Bring on Summer! I have mixed emotions going into it.  I know we will have lots of fun, but I also know how crazy it will be to have everyone home ALL day every day!  Hopefully we will all survive.
