We kicked off our first week of summer vacation with a trip to the dentist! Hooray for no cavities! We like to make a night of our trips to the dentist. We love to go to JCW's for dinner and then head over to Thanksgiving point. We have found that the evening time is the best time to go, because there is no one there!
I took some picture of the girls (Finn didn't want to) in front of these cute walls. How is Sadie getting so grown up?!
I asked Ava to smile..and this is what I got.
Krispy Kreme doughnuts gives out free doughnuts for good grades. We took in the kid's report cards and cashed in for some yummy doughnuts.
We love to go to Gardner Village in the fall to see the witches and the winter to see the elves. This was our first time going to see the fairies! It was fun, we searched for fairies from A-Z. Sadie's friend, Phoenix came with us. Finn didn't want his picture taken with wings. (weird right? )
We had fun discovering our fairy names...
Mom- Dewy Peppermint Daisy
Sadie-Misty Glitter Daisy
Finn-Dancing Peppermint Daisy
Ava-Fluttering Glory Daisy
Dad-Dewy River Daisy
Lyla-Stormy River Daisy
We had another fabulous trip to St. George with my family. We kicked it off with our first night at Tuachan, while the kids enjoyed an Aunt Wendy night. We saw "When You Wish" We had never seen that and we really enjoyed it. It was like getting to see the best parts of all the Disney shows.
The next day we started off the day with climbing red rocks. This is always Finn's favorite activity.
Trying to get a picture of all of these kids is a real trick!
After we got back it was straight to the pool! This year we didn't have our own private pool, but we had access to two different fun pools.
Wendy brought her Wii to play and the kids loved it!
We also had fun playing board games.
On Friday we decided to divide and conquer. Grandma, Wendy, Ava, Lyla, Beck, Liv, Tiffany and Nathan and I all went to the children's museum. Grandpa, Brian and Sadie and Finn went to the conservation garden and to climb more red rocks.
Then it was back to the house for more swimming!
Later that evening we headed to Thunder Junction Park. We rode the train, enjoyed the playground and got wet in the splash pad.
The next morning we had to check out and head home. On our way out of town, we stopped at the pioneer home of Jacob Hamblin. The kids were not too excited about it, but I really liked it and learned some new things.
We have had several cousin days with our cousins. We have tried to go once a week.
Butterfly biosphere...
Splash pad....
A play date at our house and then lunch at Chick-Fil-A.
Then we had the cousin day of all cousin days. We met at the curiosity museum at Thanksgiving Point and played there all afternoon. Then we went to their house for a few hours and then we went to watch Spencer's baseball game followed by playing at the park. It ended up being about a 10 hour play date! It was a blast.
I love that my kids get to be friends with their cousins. I am thankful for the memories and relationships that they are making.
Hard Sunday....
One Sunday morning I came home from ward council and found Ava not being very cooperative and not ready for church. We managed to get everyone in the car and once we got to church Brian took the other kids inside while I hung out with Ava, waiting for her to be ready to go.
She started out just throwing a fit on the lawn....
Slowly she made her way to the stairs....
Eventually we made it into the foyer. and then she was ready to make it into sacrament meeting.
And this is how she ended up after church....
Some days are just hard, and you need a nap.
Sadie turned 9!
I can't believe she is nine. Sadie is a silly, smart, helpful, kind and sassy girl. I have noticed lately little glimpses of Sadie growing up. acting more mature. Not getting upset over little things. Being more helpful with her siblings. Just little things, but I can see how she is growing up. It is crazy to think we are 1/2 way to 18! We celebrated her birthday with a fun mom and Sadie day. We started off getting her hair trimmed up. Her hair has gotten so long! She never wants to cut it, because she loves having it long. I have convinced her that it is good to have a trim every now and then.
Then we headed to Cafe Rio for lunch. Sadie said Cafe Rio is her 2nd favorite restaurant after JCW's.
We found this onion in our salad, and thought it was funny. Like an angry little onion.
After lunch we went to get her ears pierced. She has been looking forward to this for a long time, but has been a bit nervous about it. I was proud of how brave she was. I knew that she was nervous but she did it! After she was done she said "I wish I had done this last year." Now she can't wait until she can change her earrings.
I took this before picture of her ears. Ever since she was born she had these dimples in her ears that looked like they were pierced. People would even ask me when she was little if they were pierced.
Later that evening we had cake and ice cream with Grandma Terry, Grandpa Roger and Tiffany and Beck.
We are very lucky to have Sadie in our family. We love her very much!
A few days later we had a birthday party with her friends. She wanted a water party in the back yard. We played fun water games and ate yummy ice cream sundaes. We had a lot of girls come, I think including Sadie and Ava and cousin Abby who came to help, we had 15 girls there and Finn.
Sadie and Emma..
Sadie and Madi..
Sadie and the Humphries girls.
Sadie and Harlie..
Sadie and Kennedy..
Victoria and Sadie..
Phoenix and Sadie..
Lily, Sadie and Brooklyn..
Sadie is lucky to have so many great friends.
Random June
Lyla is getting so big! She is starting to stand for longer periods of time without holding on to anything. She loves to eat big people food. She has learned to climb and will climb on almost anything she can, including up the stairs and in the dishwasher. I can't believe she is almost a year old.
Any time Ava rides her bike, she wants to take moosey for a ride.
I could probably make a book full of silly Ava pictures...
Sunday evening shenanigans at Grandma Terry's..
We went to get snow cones one night for our FHE treat..
We have been going on Monday mornings to summer movies. The kids love it.
Lyla has been doing pretty good at them too, many times she ends up falling asleep.
We are in full blown summer mode and are enjoying it.
