January and February felt like two giant months of random. These late winter months always feel so long and blah. I am already looking forward to spring! Here is some of the randomness from these months...
Brian got a puzzle of Peggy's Cove a place from his mission, from his parent's for Christmas. He has Finn had fun working on it over the holiday break.
We love cousin day in the summer and cousin day winter break style was just as great. We met up with Aunt Julie and her 4 younger kids at thanksgiving point. After we played at thanksgiving point we headed to JCW's for lunch.
Finn lost his 2nd tooth!
Ava had a well check. She is a healthy girl still the 99% for height!
Waiting room shenanigans.
A sweet moment before school, snuggles and book reading in Mom and Dad's bed. It is moments like these that make this job worth it.
Ava was excited to take a picture by the letter L at the library because it was L week at preschool. She wanted me to send a picture to Miss Tami.
If Dad is home everyone wants to sit by him.
Sadie's weekly schedule.... Made me smile to see on her white board.
Apparently Finn is using his initials at school these days?
Cute girls in the tub. Lyla recently went through a stage where she HATED the tub. She refused to sit and just cried the whole time we tried to get her washed. Luckily that phase has past and she is enjoying the tub once again.
Crazy times with friends. Friends are at our house pretty much every afternoon.
I took Ava and Lyla to the dinosaur museum one Friday morning. The big kids are not huge fans of the Dinosaur museum, but Ava loves it so we have to try and go when the big kids are at school. We had enough time to hit up the butterfly biosphere too.
This butterfly landed on my diaper bag and was hanging out there for a long time. After looking at the pictures it looks like it's wings are damaged. It was fun to get to hold it.
Ava didn't like the snow on her face....
We were reading about Nephi building a boat in our come follow me study. For FHE we built boats and tested them in the bathtub to see if they would float.
The joys of motherhood...Pulling the soap our of the toilet.
Or when you go to get in the shower and find that you have a tattoo that you didn't know you had. Always a random sticker stuck somewhere.
Sadie was awarded "Wildcat of the month' at school in January. We were able to go see her get her award at a school assembly and then enjoy a cookie with her in the library. She was recognized for having confidence in her skills. Her teacher wrote a really nice note about how she does that. She is such a smart girl and it makes me so happy to hear that she is helping others in her class.
February 3rd we got a big snow storm, so big that they even canceled school for the day. The kids had fun playing the snow and hanging out with friends all day. Poor Brian had to work all day shoveling. He walked 30 thousand steps that day!
Our entry way gets a little full on snow days. Lots of snow clothes piled at the door.
Finn played basket ball this season. He had a great group of friends on his team. I noticed improvement and more understanding of the game this season.
I loved this picture of 100 year old Finn. When he is 100 he will look "old."
And this paper made my day! He is glad he doesn't have 100 sisters and would not like to eat 100 poop!
This made my Mom heart happy when I found this note that Sadie left in Finn's lunchbox.
Crazy hair day! I love that Sadie did her own crazy hair this year....
Ava had a fun field trip with her preschool. Because Lyla was sick Dad was able to take the day off and go on the field trip with her. They went to the Gale Center of History and Culture museum. Apparently it was a pretty fun place.
We got hit hard with some kind of bug. Maybe the flu?! It started with Lyla and then slowly took out the rest except Dad. This was Valentines weekend. What a romantic way to celebrate...taking care of sick kids.
poor girl ended up with a ear infection too.
Finn broke my heart when he came home from school in tears because he was hurting so bad.
Crazy Ava REFUSED to take any kind of medicine. It definitely made it harder on her.
Sadie got a bit of a surprise when she opened the ketchup!
I can always count on some good Sadie Selfies on my phone.
Cute Lyla bed head...
We had one pretty big change this month. On February 2nd Brian was set apart as the 2nd councilor in our ward's bishopric. Bishop Doug Fulton is the new bishop with Brother Boyce Barnes as 1st councilor. Unfortunately his new calling means I will be released as the young women's president. I have loved serving in the young womens and am really sad to be released, but I know that it would be way too crazy for our family to do both. I love the YW and will miss them and my presidency so much. On to new things.
Finn started indoor soccer. He has never played indoor, but it has been fun so far. He loves any time he gets to play with his friend, Benny. (Or as I like to call him...Benjiboo)
Finn had to go to the dentist to get sealants on him 6 year old molars. Brian had the day off, so Finn and I got a little time to ourselves. It is always fun to spend one on one time with my kids.
Miss Lyla is growing up so fast! She is 18 months old now and can go to nursery at church. She is a little smarty pants who can count to 10 all by herself and is starting to put sentences together. She looks so big when she gets her hair done in pigtails..
Finn was awarded the 'Wildcat of the month' for February. He was recognized for contributing to the community. His teacher wrote such a sweet note about Finn.
She said...
"Finn is such an awesome boy! He is kind to the core. He is so helpful, and he is always willing to give assistance to anyone who needs it. He builds others with his kind words and actions, and because of that, everyone loves to be around him. We are totally lucky to have Finn in our class."
This made me so happy! Nothing makes me happier than to hear that my kids are being kind. It was funny when I told Ava that Finn got his award for being kind to others, she said "Well, he isn't nice to me!" I guess there is always room for improvement.
The school had juice with Seuss for Dr. Seuss's birthday. We went before school and had doughnuts and juice.
Sadie participated in the Jr. Jagline fundraiser at the high school again this year. She had fun learning a dance and performing with her friends.
Victoria G, Sadie, Phoenix M
Phoenix and Sadie
Cute Lyla reading books at the library waiting for story time to start.
Some days just call for a Swig! Crazy hair just don't care!
