October 2020

 Cute little twinner girls....

Ava's art work...

I love seeing what comes home in the kid's backpacks.
Ava wants to be an artist when she grows up....

Finn thinks Mo Willem's next book should be titled "Don't let the pigeon get carona viris!"

Math about Finn.....

We have spent several mornings walking by the canal with these two cute girls.  October has been absolutely beautiful!

We made it on a hike to the Bear Canyon Suspension Bridge.
I have been wanting to do this hike for awhile now, but was trying to avoid the heat of summer.  This fall evening was the perfect night for it!  plus we got to see some fall colors too!  Sadie and Ava were a bit nervous about heading onto the bridge, but both ventured on a little ways.  Finn loved it and had no problem walking across it several times.  It was a fun hike.

Let all the Halloween festivities begin.  The kids had fun decorating this haunted gingerbread house.

Ava loves to climb trees.  Here she is in the tree at the school while we were waiting for Finn.

Ava was supposed to disguise a pumpkin for school.  She made a cute spider.

So thankful that my kids have good friends...

Victoria and Sadie....

We had a week off of school for fall break.  We tried to fill it with lots of fun things.  We went to the zoo!  We have not been to the zoo in forever, in fact Lyla had never even been.  I ended up getting a membership, so I am sure we will be making many more visits.  We had a fun day.  It was nice because there were not many people there, making social distancing easy and also seeing the animals.

The seals and sea lions were probably the favorite.  They were very active and were swimming right up by the observation windows.

We went to the pumpkin patch.  The kids had a blast playing and then picking out pumpkins.

We went to see the witches at Gardner Village with our friends.

We did a fire pit and ate tin foil dinners and smores.  Fall is the perfect time for fire pit.  It was perfectly cool and crisp.

We made spider web cupcakes.

We did caramel apples.  We were sad we couldn't do this with the Ferrells like we do most years.  Silly Covid!

How much room on the broom?...

Halloween!
Halloween looked a bit different this year (like everything)  Our ward did have a trunk or treat and that was fun.

The kids were able to dress up for school and did fun activities in their class rooms, but no parent volunteers were allowed.

We carved pumpkins and ate jack o lantern pizza!
We got a bit of a surprise when we went to carve our pumpkins....they were frozen SOLID!  We waited a few days and they thawed out, but were a bit squishy.  We made do and they turned out great.

We were undecided on trick or treating this year.  We ended up doing a fun candy hunt at our friends the Gourley's.  The kids had fun finding candy and they got tons! Maybe this is a new idea for future Halloweens.  They were done in 10 mins and had bags full of candy!

Lyla dressed as a Dutch Girl this year.  She refused to wear the hate or the apron though.

Finn dressed as Mario with Benny as Luigi for his school and trunk or treat, but dressed up as Dash on Halloween with Ava as Violet from the Incredibles.

Sadie dressed up as Hermione from Harry Potter.

On Halloween night we just did a quick stop at Uncle David's house and Grandma Terry's.  We also stopped by one of Dad's coworkers house to check out his elaborate Halloween decorations in his yard.  It was very impressive and just a little bit scary.  Even with things looking different I think we had a fantastic Halloween!

For the primary program this year, the primary asked the kids to draw a picture of their favorite Book Of Mormon story from this year's study.  These are what our kids chose....

Brian took this picture of the Salt Lake Temple currently under construction.  He had a pretty good view from the tree lift.

School Pictures....
Picture day was rough for Sadie. I don't really stress too much about school pictures because we take family pictures and get better quality pictures.  I do buy the cheapest package of school pictures, just so that my kids can have the class pictures. I just think they are a bunch of cuties no matter what!

Finn 2nd Grade....

Sadie 5th grade...

I was not feeling very well for a few days. Being sick during a pandemic is not great for those who deal with anxiety!  The worry of do I have it??? Is worse than anything.  I finally decided I need to get tested just for my own peace of mind.  I got the real deal test with a nose swab! Wow that was quite the experience.  I think they reached all the way to my brain!  Thankfully it was negative.

More Ava art....She and Brian had gone on the roof to look for a lost bouncy ball.  This is the picture she drew of them doing that.

I can't believe we are headed into November!  Just two more months of this crazy year 2020!  We are just hoping and praying for a healthy, happy end of the year!
